Obituary - Funeral services for Dorthey Bass Prewitt, 87, of Brookeland were held March 14, 2008 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, with graveside services at Jonesville Cemetery in Huntington.

Dorthey died March 11, 2008 at her home in Brookeland. Born in Spur, TX and a native of Huntington, she had lived in Brookeland for the past 24 years. She was a charter member of Rayburn Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ukulele Band.

Survivors include her husband of 16 years, Bluett Prewitt of Brookeland; stepson Jimmy Prewitt of Orange; three step-daughters Gail Bruvold & Kathy Dominy both of Jasper, & Paula Xander of Smithfield, VA; two step sisters Helen Collins & Ellen Degat; twelve step grandchildren; sixteen step great grandchildren; & one step great great grandchild. Also survived by seven nieces & nephews Eddie Bass, Sr., Ruth Overton, Vic Bass, Sr., Chloe Walker, John David Bass, Buster Bass & Eddie Lee Bass.

Memorials may be made to the Youth Fund, Jasper Church of Christ, Hwy 96 South.
