Boys' track squad grabs fifth place at Hemphill

The Jasper boys' varsity track team scored 51 points to place fifth overall at the Hemphill meet Thursday, March 13.

"It wasn't a good day for us," Coach Tracy Adair said. "The competition was also very good. San Augustine, Newton and Carthage have some very talented kids."

In field events, Cliff Mitchell was fifth in shot put; Terrance Avant, fourth in triple jump; and Tim Cauley, fourth in high jump.

The 4x100 relay team of Octavious Rawls, Darren Beavers, Kadarroe Rawls, and Terrance Avant placed third.

In the 3200 meter run, Zach Riggins took third place. Riggins was fifth in the 1600.

Tim Cauley placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles.

Avant took first place in the 400-meter dash; Rawls was third in the 200 meter, followed by Beavers, in sixth place.

Junior Varsity placed third overall behind San Augustine and Carthage.

Dillon Riggins took the only first place, winning the top spot in the 3200-meter run.

In field events, Tray Lewis was fifth in shot put; Dominique Good, sixth in discus; Dante Cauley, third in long jump; Deanthony Limbrick, fourth in triple jump. Brandon Weatherspoon took second place in high jump, followed by Limbrick, in fourth place.

The 4x100 relay team of Weatherspoon, Michael Webb, Limbrick, and Cauley placed third. The 4x200 team placed fifth. Members were Cedric McGill, Alfred Middleton, Weatherspoon, and Webb.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Middleton, Limbrick, Webb, and Cauley took third place.

In individual running events, Dante Cauley was fourth in the 200-meter dash, and Dillon Riggins placed third in the 1600.
