ETHAN awarded $1,000

ETHAN (East Texas Health Access Network) received recognition from the National Council on Aging (NCOA) for helping the most seniors get enrolled in the Medicare Part D subsidy during a Gulf Coast hurricane survivors pilot project.

ETHAN is a non-profit agency based in Jasper that serves several East Texas counties, and acts as a hub to integrate many different services. Some programs are help low-income, the elderly or disabled, but increasingly the agency is also coordinating health and wellness programs for everyone.

The NCOA award, which included a $1,000 check, recognized that ETHAN assisted 239 seniors to enroll in a variety of benefits with an estimated annual value of more than $506,000.

"We applaud the great work that ETHAN has done, and continues to do to help seniors get enrolled in the benefits that can significantly improve their health and quality of life," said Bill Hodge, NCOA.
