Bess Murry Childers Bess Murry Childers, born November 24, 1909 in Rock, Louisiana, daughter of William & Martha Elizabeth (Slay) Murry, passed away March 14, 2008. Predeceased by husband of 46 years Moses Lycurgus Childers and stepson M. L. Childers. Survived by two sons William Ed Childers & wife Rochelle & Fredrick Spencer Childers & wife Mary J. all of Houston; daughter-in-law Juanita Childers; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren. Mrs. Childers attended Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College and Sam Houston Teachers college, receiving a lifetime teaching certificate from the latter. Her first teaching assignment was in the one room Wells School in Scrappin' Valley. She also taught at Bon Wier, Survey School, Doucette and Trinity Episcopal School. She was a founder of Trinity Episcopal School & charter & long time member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the Daughters of the King. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, with services to be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Jasper on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in City Cemetery in Jasper. In lieu of flowers love offerings may be made to the daughters of the King at Trinity Episcopal Church in Jasper. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.stringerandgriffin.com .
