Shirley June Womack Phillips

Shirley June Womack Phillips was born in Pineland, on July 9, 1935 and went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2008. A native of Jasper, she graduated from Jasper High School in 1953. She married Rev. Richard N. Phillips on March 23, 1957. They were in ministry together for 51 years, pasturing various churches in the Texas Conference. Since their retirement in 1998, she had been a member of the Curtis United Methodist Church and also actively participated in Homer United Methodist Church where Dick is currently pastoring. Shirley was known for her great cooking and authored two cookbooks. She loved counted cross stitch, sewing, reading, and crossword puzzles. She was also involved in the United Methodist Women all her life and was a part of the Jasper High School Alumni Assn.

Funeral services were held on March 25, 2008 at First United Methodist Church in downtown Jasper with burial following at Hancock Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Rev. Richard N. Phillips of Jasper; her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Jeff Campbell of Katy, and their daughters, Kailyn and Kylie; her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Angie Phillips of Ft. Worth, and their children, Jacob and Katee; her brother and sister-in-law, Shirel and Danielle Womack of Jasper, and her nephews and their families, Dean and Rosie Womack, and J.D. and Bryce of Liberty, and David and Wendy Womack and Brittany, Taylor, and Zachary of Houston. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many cousins who all loved her very much.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed toward the Curtis or Homer United Methodist Church.
