Taste of Jasper

Bluegrass and gospel

Toledo Bend history

The East Texas Historical Association is hosting a symposium on the building of Toledo Bend dam April 12 at Wesley Center in Jasper. Registration is $10 and includes lunch. RSVP 936- 468-2407.

Magnolia Festival

The Kirbyville Magnolia Festival is April 18-19 with the theme of Mardi Gras on the Park. Call 423-6500.

Relay "Dawg" quilt

The annual all-night fundrasier relay takes place on the Jasper courthouse square April 25-26. The Few Primary team is selling chances on a hand-made bulldog quilt with paw prints and "Dawg" bones. The Newton County Fair and livestock auction runs April 22-26 at the fairgrounds. It includes a carnival, entertainment and arts and crafts. Contact Lee Fillyaw at 409-381-0842.

Texas chainsaws

People with tractors, brush hogs, chippers, machetes, and other gear are needed to help Partners Ranch, a retreat for children and adults with disabilities, clear trails and create a picnic area for summer activities.
