JHS auto tech students win Skills awards

Four JHS auto tech students recently qualified for the state Skills USA competition with their automotive projects.

Alex Guadian, Chris Guadian, Wilbur McClemore and Lyle Bailey each won a first place blue ribbon in the small category division at the regional contest held at Lamar Institute of Technology.

Their projects will compete at the state level in Corpus Christi April 2. Chris Guadian and McClemore entered starters as their projects; Bailey entered an alternator project and Alex Guadian a carburetor. Chris Guadian also entered a skills competition in which he completed timed tasks in front of judges and took a written test.

All are students of Mike Gerard's Auto Tech I and II classes at Jasper High School.
