Mobile dental van delivers preventative care

Newton residents receive thousands of dollars worth of dental preventive treatments with the assistance of ETHAN (East Texas Health Access Network), according to Joe Miller of First United Methodist Church in Newton.

ETHAN and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, the Dental Branch, bring a complete dental clinic in a van to East Texas. Counties served are Jasper, Newton, Sabine, San Augustine and Tyler Counties.

Preventive services include dental exams, x-rays, extractions, fillings, and cleaning. Fees are based on household income.

Miller said the mobile dental office provides much-needed care for people who are uninsured or underinsured.

For information on where the van goes next or to make an appointment, call ETHAN at 384-2099.
