Allan Campbell chosen Enlisted Person of Year

Petty Officer Allan G. Campbell, of Jasper, was chosen as the Enlisted Person of the Year for the Coast Guard's Eleventh District, which encompasses all of California, March 7.

Campbell is currently stationed at Air Station Humboldt Bay and was entered for consideration of the District award after being named Group/Air Station Humboldt Bay's Enlisted Person of the Year in February.

Campbell attended Jasper High School. Since joining the Coast Guard in 2000, Campbell has earned an Associates degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of New Orleans and is now working towards a degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

As an advocate for Child Services and the foster care program, he participates in an annual summer camping retreat, as well as during several events over the winter holidays.

In addition, Campbell has helped off-duty in a two-car accident when driving home. He quickly surveyed the area and assisted the woman and her daughter in the vehicle. Due to Campbell's response they both lived.

After being awarded the District Eleven honor, Campbell is now eligible for consideration as the Coast Guard's Enlisted Person of the Year.
