      After a rain delay of over an hour and with mist still falling, the Jasper Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-0 lead against Bridge City in the first inning Friday night, only to see their hopes of tying the district race dashed in the fifth inning when the Cardinals pulled ahead to win 7-6.

      After field event competition and running prelims at the district track meet in Silsbee Thursday, April 4, Jasper teams held a single first-place finish, that of Carlos Carter in discus. Carter threw 140'-6" and will advance to the regional competition.

      The Toyota Texas Bass Classic, a Professional Anglers Association sanctioned event, is offering discounted tickets to all Texas fishing and hunting license holders. The team competition benefits the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD).

      Jasper High School golf teams competed at the district tournament at Wildwood March 31-April 1. Boys coach Jason Schofield said his team finished in the middle of the pack, led by Stephen Burch with a two-day total of 198.
