Walking the Halls The faculty, staff, and students have a high level of expectations as we continue working for success during the 2007 - 2008 school year. The first four six-week periods of school are completed. The math department is providing tutorials in preparation for the TAKS test. We had up to 153 students participate in weekly math tutorials, which target specific objectives for each student to improve their performance. As we approach our main series of TAKS tests in late April, our after school tutorial sessions allow students more individualized instruction; from 3:15 - 4:30 p.m. for the following subject areas: Tuesdays, math; Wednesdays, Social Studies; Thursdays, science. We will continue to use the School Messenger phone system to notify parents and students about tutorial schedules and other specific information about events on the high school campus. Recently, former JHS student / athlete Joseph "Red" Bryant was back on campus. Red is a 2003 graduate of Jasper High School who recently received his degree from Texas A&M University. We asked Red to speak to the high school students about the importance of dedication to academics and making good decisions. Red is an excellent role model; many teachers and staff members were pleased to be able to visit with him. Aspecial thanks to Gwen Gilford and Rachel Pickle for contacting Red and to Red for taking time from his busy schedule to give back to the JHS student body. Red is eagerly awaiting the National Football League draft and has had positive visits with several NFLteams. From everyone at Jasper High School, good luck to Red in the pursuit of his goals. Thanks to all of the students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members who make Jasper High School so successful. Please do not hesitate to contact us as we move forward in our goal of educating all students at Jasper High School. We appreciate your continued support. |
