Relay for Life needs singers, musicians

Relay for Life is looking for musicians, singers and entertainers for the all-night fundraiser on the Jasper courthouse square Friday, April 25.

"We are looking for bands, youth groups, church groups and individuals singers to fill the night with good, upbeat music," said organizer Lloyd Persons.

For the annual relay, teams keep a baton in motion all night long, as a reminder than cancer does not rest and the fight against cancer should never stop.

Last year, Newton Mayor Rachel Martin was among several entertainers who kept walkers' spirits up during the long night. By 3 a.m., most teams were sacked out under blankets on the courthouse lawn, but at least one member always stayed up making laps.
