Six file for three JISD board posts Six candidates have filed for the Jasper Independent School District Board of Trustee election to be held Saturday, May 10. Three trustees will be elected to serve for a three-year term. There are two open seats plus that of incumbent James Riley. In addition to Riley, the list includes former board member Carolyn Armitage, Tommy Street, Steve Floyd, Dr. Ron McMurray, and Keith Hilderbrand. The first day to apply for ballot by mail was March 11; the last day will be May 2. Ballots by mail must be received by those dates, not postmarked. Early voting by personal appearance will be held April 28-May 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and May 5 and 6 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the city of Jasper, 465 South Main. This is a uniform election held on the same day and in the same locations as council positions in the city of Jasper elections. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the following locations: Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1942 North Main St. Parnell Elementary, 151 Park Street City of Jasper, 465 South Main Jasper High School, 400 Bulldog Avenue |
