Walking the halls Welcome back to Walking the Halls of J.H. Rowe Intermediate School. As you walk the halls with me, you will still see learning taking place everywhere. Our students, teachers, staff, parents, and community are all partners in the education of each child. The Rowe Family will continue to work hard to create a positive and productive learning experience in order to ensure future educational success. In order for our students to continue being successful, effective communication and teamwork will remain a top priority. The months of April and May are expected to be busy months for Rowe Intermediate. At present, many of the fifth grade students have demonstrated mastery on the Reading TAKS objectives. The 2008 Reading TAKS test was administered to fifth grade students on March 5. Seventy nine percent of the fifth grade students were successful. The remaining 21 percent will have a second opportunity to pass the test on April 30. Fifth grade reading tutorial classes are being conducted on April 15, 18, 22, 24, 25 and 29. The fifth grade students were administered the Math TAKS test on April 8. Individual student results will be sent to parents shortly after they arrive. The sixth grade Math TAKS test will be administered on April 29. Tutorials for the sixth grade math are being conducted every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:20 - 4:20 p.m. through April 24. April 30 the sixth grade Reading TAKS test will be administered. Tutorials for reading are Monday and Wednesday 3:20-4:20 p.m. through April 28. If your child is in need of improvement, we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. By working together, we will ensure that your child will receive the best education possible. J. H. Rowe Intermediate will have a parent orientation night April 17, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. We would love to see all of our parents on that night. I would like to thank the teachers, staff, students, parents, community, and PRIDE for supporting J.H. Rowe Intermediate. Thank you for walking the halls with me once again! |
