Homecoming at Call Sunday

The 59th Call Homecoming will be April 27 at 10 a.m. with a covered dish luncheon at noon.

The event was begun to honor Call School Superintendent H.C. Darden and following his death, families that populated the sawmill town.

The town of Call was founded in 1894 by lumbermen Dennis Call and George Adams.

Their sawmill operations were later purchased by Kirby Lumber Corporation. The mill closed in 1953 and most residents moved away. The school later consolidated with Kirbyville.

This year's honorees will be the Don Crane family.
