      Makinzi Avery Marshall Scotty Marshall and Brandi Wilson of Jasper announce the birth of their daughter, Makinzi Avery, born April 29 at 7:04 a.m. at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.

D.A.'s office wins two felony convictions
      Jasper District Attorney Steve Hollis reports that two felony jury trials in the same week in April both resulted in convictions. Curtis Metcalfe was convicted of indecency with a child and sentenced to 20 years in the penitentiary.
