Wright's Long Black Line set to show at Boomtown Film Fest

The Long Black Line, Herman Wright's documentary, will be shown at the Boomtown Film and Music Festival in Beaumont May 17.

Wright is the son of Herman Wright Sr., longtime member of the JISD school board. This year, he helped Diane Pace's junior high history classes to obtain video recording equipment to document the history of Jasper County.

"The Long Black Line (LBL) is a documentary exploring the values of African American families in East Texas and their historical legacy in America," Wright said.

"The documentary tells the story of the rural community of Mt. Union that was founded by African Americans after the emancipation," Wright said.

It is the first in what the LBL Society plans will be a trilogy for PBS stations.
