Tyrone Sylvester Completes Ph.D. from LBU

Pastor Tyrone Sylvester, the son of Arthur & Patsy Sylvester of Jasper, has earned a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Louisiana Baptist University & Seminary in Shreveport, LA which was conferred on Friday, May 2, 2008. Dr. Sylvester is the Pastor/Founder of the Great Commission Family Church located at 12540 Crenshaw in Houston, TX and also serves as the Principal of O'Donnell Middle School in the Alief Independent School District.

Dr. Sylvester, a 1989 graduate of Jasper High School , holds a Bachelor of Music from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX and a Master of Education from Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, TX. Pastor Sylvester's love for God and His people was kindled under the spiritual leadership of Pastor Daniel Stafford of the Peaceful Rest Missionary Baptist Church.
