Walking the halls
By ANDY GOLDEN STARS Director

Hello from the STARS campus. We just finished another session of TAKS testing. We are anticipating a record number of graduates this spring. The STARS spring graduation ceremony will be Monday, June 2, in the Jasper High School auditorium at 6:00 pm.

STARS will be open the June 3 - 30, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., for TAKS tutorials in ELA (8:10 - 9 a.m.), social studies (9 - 9:50 a.m.), math (10 - 11 a.m.), and science (11 - 11:50 a.m.) for students who will re-test the TAKS in July.

Students from Jasper, Kirbyville, Newton, Hemphill, Brookeland, Burkeville, San Augustine, Woodville, Colmesneil and Spurger have been a part of STARS this year.

I want to thank our dedicated staff, school board, superintendent, JISD administrative team, business community, church community, parents and the students of STARS for making this a successful school year.

STARS presented its first scholarship award this spring. Donations from First Methodist Church in the amount of $500 and $100 from the women of Trinity Episcopal Church were awarded to Bo Brown. Bo plans to attend the Tulsa School of Welding in Tulsa, OK. Good Luck Bo! And good luck to all of our graduates from STARS and Jasper High School.

Have a safe summer and be careful.
