Buna sweeps Centerville in two straight
By JIMMY GALVAN Editor

The Buna Cougars made short work of Centerville in the Area round of the playoffs as the Cougars swept Centerville in two straight games 2-1, 16-3.

In the first game, played Thursday, May 8, Buna found themselves tied 1-1 in the contest before scoring a late run to claim the 2-1 victory.

As it would turn out, it would be the closest Centerville would come to a victory over the Cougars.

In the second game of the series, Buna ran out to a quick 5-0 lead in the third inning and never looked back.

By the time the fifth inning had rolled around, Buna had pushed their lead out to 16-0 and crusied to the easy victory and the playoff win.

Centerville managed to score three runs in the bottom of the fifth but Buna claimed the easy victory.

Buna will now take on Central Heights in the next round in a best-of-three game series starting Thursday at Jasper High School and Lufkin Hudson.

Games will be Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday if necessary.
